End of the Far Midwest Tour of In Memory of David’s Buick

After six weeks of planning and execution, on September 3rd, 2011, we finished the Far Midwest Tour of David’s Buick with author/musician Bob Saar and musician Patrick Hazell.

Bob gave us a wonderful experience traveling 19 cities in 8 states over three weeks. We met incredibly interesting people and visited some wonderful places, like the cabin in the Ozarks where Bob wrote In Memory of David’s Buick, and Lyons, Colorado, where Bob and Pat played at Oskar Blues. The weather was hot and humid much of the trip, so the Rockies at the end with Santa Fe, Taos, Golden, and Lyons, were a welcome site.

I shot 24 hours of video, which will be compiled into a documentary eventually about the tour and the book. Some is already on DavidsBuick Youtube channel and a couple pieces on the Petroglyph Pictures Youtube channel, including our last ‘gig’ at Zombie Burger in Des Moines, where Bob and Pat played, Zombie in a Strange Land, to a captive audience waiting for their Zombie burgers. It was quite a hoot. It’s well worth returned visits to DavidsBuick Youtube channel, where you can see Professor Zug discussing some of the finer points of the novel.
